Abstract

Could the organisers of this conference have selected a more imposing and significantly historical site for this conference? My arrival at Sydney Trades Hall brought me back to 1954 when going to Sussex Street Sydney was itself a trip back into history. The great building of 1871 is still there, now with a wonderful adaption in modern style, the Auditorium, which was our central location and gathering point, so pivotal at this type of conference. It provided an opportunity for many from afar to meet, relate, or just catch up. On this clear crisp morning, a cup of coffee was appreciated once all the registration was completed and a good number in attendance. There was considerable anticipation in the Auditorium as the conference finally got under way with a warm welcome and acknowledgement of country by ASSLH's National President, Nikki Balnave.
