Abstract

The optic nerve is implicated in many acquired, immune-mediated, and hereditary medical disorders. In the field of neurology, interest in these disorders has expanded greatly over the past few years, due to the discovery of several new disease categories—eg, AQP4 antibody-associated neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). Identification of the clinical and paraclinical features (ie, imaging and neurophysiological) that distinguish these different disorders is of paramount importance for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
