This examination of girls' fiction from 1900 to 1950 seeks to unlock the hidden messages of literature that have informed an entire generation. The text looks at girl images in classic boys' fiction such as, Huckleberry Finn and Treasure Island as well as images of girls and women in works such as Mary Poppins and Anne of Green Gables.
