Abstract

Research Article| May 01 2019 “Gongyequ” (“Industrial Zone”) Xu Duo; Xu Duo Xu Duo is a Beijing-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, and harmonica player, performing most often in the New Worker Art Troupe (Xin gongren yishutuan). Aside from having performed all over China, he has also appeared in theatrical productions. He is the main organizer for the annual New Years Music Festival of Worker’s Music, featuring performances by workers from all over China, and is active as a mentor of worker and activist rock musicians. He has published on imperial Chinese literary culture, capitalist oceanic geographies, the global 1960s, and contemporary Chinese intellectual politics. He is currently working on a book project on Chinese neoliberalism.
