Abstract
The extraction system formed by the synergic mixture primary amine Primene 81R and the phosphine oxide Cyanex 923, has been studied for a possible application in gold(I) extraction in cyanide media, taking into account the variables that could affect the extraction of this metal, such as agitation time, temperature, aqueous ionic strength, diluent of the organic phase, etc. From the experimental data obtained, an extraction mechanism is proposed which is also corroborated by the infrared spectrum carried out. The gold(I) stripping stage with NaCN and NaOH solutions has also been studied.
