Gold thiolate complexes with short intermolecular gold-gold distances from reactions of organic disulfides with gold(I) complexes. Syntheses and crystal structures of [AuI2(PPh3)2(.mu.-SCH2Ph)](NO3) and AuIII2Cl4(.mu.-SPh)2

Abstract

The reaction of PhCH 2 SSCH 2 Ph or Na(SCH 2 Ph) with Au(PPh 3 )NO 3 in CH 2 Cl 2 yields the dinuclear compound [Au I 2 -(PPh 3 ) 2 (μ-SCH 2 Ph)](NO 3 ). The reaction of PhSSPh with Au(CO)Cl in CH 2 Cl 2 yields the dinuclear compound Au III 2 Cl 4 -(μ-SPh) 2 . The crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis
