Abstract

Treatment of N,O-bis(trimethylsilyl)hydroxylamine, Me3SiNHOSiMe3, with tris[(triphenylphosphine)gold]oxonium salts gives high yields of the triply N-aurated O-(trimethylsilyl)hydroxylammonium salts {[(Ph3P)- Au]3NOSiMe3}+X- (X = BF4, PF6, SbF6, CF3SO3). The crystal structure of the triflate salt has been determined. The cation (illustration) shows a steep NAu3 pyramid as part of a strongly distorted ONAu3 tetrahedron, indicating signifant cluster bonding.
