Abstract
In an effort to synthesize β-pyrazolyl acid esters, we developed a stereoselective 1,4-conjugate addition of pyrazoles to substituted propiolates catalyzed by AuCl or cationic gold species. The resultant β-pyrazolyl-(Z)-alkenyl acid esters were conveniently hydrogenated to the β-pyrazolyl acid esters.
