Abstract

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is preparing to launch the third in series of five advanced weather satellites in order to “ensure the continuity” of satellite weather data. NOAA's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite‐K (GOES‐K) is scheduled for launch on April 24 from NASA's Cape Canaveral Air Station. GOES‐K will be renamed GOES 10 once it is securely in orbit.
