Abstract

The present article aims to present and discuss about the main factors that contribute for the development of the Latin American integration process and how they act on the institutionalization of a future model of global governance through a comparative analysis proposal of concrete cases. Therefore, in the first part, we establish the methodological premises, which are based on the theoretical concepts concerning global governance and the role of the integration processes, characterizing the weakening of the State-nations and their incapacity to give due answers for the emergent and common problems faced by our contemporary society. Sequentially, we focus our attention on the investigation of two concrete cases: the Andean Nations Community and the Mercosur in order to verify the major facts that contribute for the development of these entities and also those ones that, at the same time, demonstrate the peculiar discontinuity of the integration process in the Latin American continent. Finally, we will present a general and comparative overview of the analyzed cases as a way to reflect on the perspectives of the region and how it could contribute for the future implementation of global governance.
