Abstract

Key summary pointsAimTo assess which PROM was best suited to evaluate patient-relevant outcomes of hospitalisation and to assess which factors predicted this PROM.FindingsAccomplishment of self-defined goals represented the benefit experienced by hospitalisation best, whereas EQ-5D and Katz-15 showed no significant correlations. Subjective indicators of health and functioning are better predictors of goal accomplishment than objective.MessageMedical decision-making should not only be based on objective medical indicators, but also on subjective indicators such as quality of life, symptom experience, goals and confidence in goal achievement.
