Abstract

Bio electrodes are used to record electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and to study electrical activity of the brain. The designed GNR2PVA electrodes can acquire EEG signal. The three lead EEG system designed using electrodes and amplifier EEG click along with Arduino-uno microcontroller. The designed system is used to capture real-time EEG signals utilizing Ag/AgCl electrodes and GNR@PVA electrodes. GNR@PVA electrodes with variable GNR ratios (0.5% and 1%) are designed by drop casting method. Real time EEG signals are acquired from 20 visually normal and 2 visually impaired individuals, parietal and optical lobe regions of brain. The acquired signals from parietal and optical lobe regions are associated with the beta and alpha frequencies of EEG waves. The obtained signals from the Ag/AgCl and GNR electrodes are compared with standard alpha and beta waves. The K-means machine learning algorithm is applied to compare the similarity between acquired EEG signal via GNR@PVA electrode and commercial Ag/AgCl electrodes. 1% GNR electrode can acquire the alpha and beta signals of normal person with correlation coefficient of 0.99 and 0.93 respectively. Also 1% GNR electrode can be used to acquire the beta signals from blind people with correlation coefficient of 0.93. Hence GNR electrode can be used to acquire the bio-potential signals for analysis.
