Abstract

Using two-current and resistor models theoretical analysis of the effect of GMR in a magnetical-ly ordered three-layer film on the condition that the dominant mechanism of the mentioned effect is asymmetric spin-dependent scattering of electrons in the bulk magnetic layers of metal (Mott mech-anism) is made. It is shown that for the limit values of thickness of the coating magnetic layer, com-pared to thickness of basic magnetic layer, the mentioned effect is negligible due to the presence of the effect of current shunting. If the thickness of the magnetic layers and their resistance are com-mensurable, there is no effect of shunting and GMR value reaches its peak value.
