Abstract
Emerging distributed and collaborative network applications like grid services demand an intelligent and user-centric infrastructure. There has been lots of effort in both network control plane layer and application layer interfaces to provide dynamic on demand service provisioning with desirable requirements. In this paper a novel solution towards an intelligent and ubiquitous photonic grid network taking advantages of recent development in optical networking technologies is proposed. The proposed approach makes the optical networks more application aware by extending control plane modules. This has been presented and simulated by integrating applications resources information into the routing and signaling modules of GMPLS as the optical control plane over optical burst switching transport network interconnected according to CA*net4 topology. The results show the affects on control channel traffic, the successful rate of link setup due to the synchronization in service resource reservation and allocation and network resources as the transport media
