Abstract

Retrobulbar connective tissue of the crucian carp was investigated with regard to its hexosamine-containing material. Approximately half of the hexosamines were found in the glycoprotein fraction and nearly half were found in the glycosaminoglycan fraction. In the latter fraction hyaluronic acid, chondroitin 4-sulphate, and dermatan sulphate were identified.
