Abstract

Little is known about how glycogen metabolism is manipulated during exercise. In article number 2001502, John Zhong Li, Tiemin Liu, Xingxing Kong, and coworkers identify that interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) in skeletal muscle regulates glycogen metabolism and subsequent exercise capacity. This work reveals a regulatory pathway including IRF4/protein targeting to glycogen (PTG)/glycogen synthesis on controlling exercise capacity.
