Abstract

Sutureless posterior chamber (PC) intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in eyes with inadequate capsule has been of recent interest due to its surgical ease and less suture-related postoperative complications as compared to suture scleral-fixated (SF) PC IOL. Glued transscleral-fixated IOLs have shown satisfying results both anatomically and functionally. Foldable and non-foldable IOLs have been successfully implanted by this technique in complicated eyes with inadequate capsular support. Recent studies have shown lesser posterior segment complications with glued IOL as compared to suture SF IOL. Risk of decenteration and resurgery rate after glued IOL was also noted to be lesser than SF IOL. In this article, we have reviewed the indications, surgical technique, modifications, results, complications and future direction of glued IOL.
