Abstract
During culture of Rhodotorula glutinis the fall in pH from 4.5 to 2 stimulates the synthesis of chitin; alternatively keeping the pH at 4.5 causes the chitin content to fall largely. However there is no proportional value between the chitin content fall and that of total hexosamines.
