Abstract
This study discusses ‘becoming’ post-human, as a continuum of physical and celestial bodies, and further, a continuum of physical, mechanical and celestial bodies. The author notes how the ‘body’, which is central to post-human theory, is limited to the biological body, and argues that there is not enough discussion on ‘bodies’ beyond the physical body, such as on mechanical or celestial bodies in post-human theory. Problems occurring on a global scale, such as global warming and climate change, environmental pollution and mass extinction, or the development of the Anthropocene, keep the post-human ethics from remaining centered on the physical body. For this reason, it is necessary to trace the intertwined relationship between species ‘beyond humans’, machines ‘beyond biological life’, and celestial bodies ‘beyond the Earth’ and understand the ontologies of the different bodies that are formed within these relationships. The sensing technology introduced in this study deconstructs the physical, mechanical and celestial bodies while laterally recombining the deconstructed elements to create the existence of a continuum of physical and celestial bodies. The sensing techniques that demonstrate mutual affect are treated as the mediators that enable the lateral combination of physical, mechanical and celestial bodies.
