Abstract

To improve the accuracy and validity of the aerodynamic coefficients extracted from free flight data for projectiles, this article presents a global optimization strategy of aerodynamic coefficient identification using multiple measured data of projectiles simultaneously. This strategy consists of two steps. In the first step, the local optimization algorithm is used in the process of independent identification for each projectile’s data individually to obtain the potential search space and then, in the second step, the Differential Evolution algorithm is used in the combined identification with the consideration of constraints. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a problem of aerodynamic moment coefficients identification using the angle of attack measured in a yaw card experiment. It is demonstrated that compared with traditional aerodynamic coefficient identification, the proposed one results in the global optimal solution and is of good stability and convergence. All the work is useful for further research.
