Then, I was given the task of being the wound care nurse and so a new journey began with a clinical interest in the wound care specialty. Over the years I have seen much change, including industry launching modern dressings such as films and foams. For me, this field is not only a vocation, but a lifelong passion. Many individuals understand this passion, and they are the wound care champions and pioneers who have made this journey possible and exciting. Much progress has been achieved in wound care over the past 25 years, but much work still remains if the profession is to be truly recognised as a clinical specialty. We are heading towards a dream come true to bring the 6th World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) congress to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Our theme is ‘Global Healing. Changing Lives.’ We have planned a wide-ranging scientific programme and courses with distinguished experts from around the world to make this a remarkable journey of knowledge. We have a great deal of successful conference and course experience. We have hosted seven annual wound care conferences that have changed the wound care landscape of this region. One of the important objectives of WUWHS 2020 is to promote a greater collaboration and cooperation of all the scientific wound care societies around the world. WUWHS can provide an innovative platform for interprofessional global care and translational wound care research. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of patients and families worldwide. The Congress in Abu Dhabi is on 8–12 March 2020. Our conference venue is the award-winning Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) that provides ample and flexible space for the Congress of the WUWHS.Abu Dhabi has recently undergone a significant enhancement in its tourism infrastructure. Our airport is major a connection hub for many airlines, making it easy for conference participants to fly to. We can meet the highest expectations of the participants and their accompanying guests. After four decades of remarkable growth and development, Abu Dhabi is now the connection between west and east, the developed and developing countries and the present and the future. It is a meeting point between ancient and modern civilisations. In Abu Dhabi, a futuristic city lives hand-in hand with ancient treasures. This is a destination where the past is preserved, cherished and respected while the future is meticulously planned and considered. The WUWHS 2020 will be an amazing experience, from the scientific and research veiw point. However, it is also a great opportunity to step into the charm, history and culture of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We look forward to seeing you in 2020, so you can personally experience our hospitality and educational excellence.
