Abstract

Characterisation of the global variation in disease burden and temporal trends can provide important clues about disease aetiology and inform prevention strategies. Although previous studies have reported geographical and temporal trends in the incidence of and mortality due to colorectal cancer based on data from the GLOBOCAN database, 1 Sung H Ferlay J Siegel RL et al. The fast-rising burden in low SDI and middle SDI countries in Asia and Africa calls for colorectal cancer prevention approaches, greater awareness, and cost-effective screening and therapeutic options in these regions.
