Abstract

This chapter focuses on global and international regulation, first by outlining some key variations in global regulation and then discussing how the emergence and nature of these global regulatory regimes can be explained. It suggests that these debates resemble closely those primarily interested in domestic regulation. It also explores the key challenges that arise from global regulation, such as whether global regulation suffers deficits in terms of effectiveness, accountability, legitimacy, and consistency.
