Abstract

The shimmering curves of the new Len Lye Centre, in New Plymouth, New Zealand, draw crowds to the museum, which is devoted to the works of an artist known for his kinetic sculptures. But it was different kinds of movement—of the physical plant to the top floor and of the patrons as they would circulate through the unusual structure—that challenged the engineers.
