Abstract

Bringing into the limelight the distinctive political communication pattern of North East India where the Church plays an important communicative role, the chapter talks in detail about the social and political communication through ‘notices’ directing particular ways of living and habits among the people. Taking into consideration the insular identities and political formations of North Eastern states of India, the chapter tries to understand the importance of ‘notices’ as an added vocabulary in the jargon of Indian political communication that remains otherwise outside the discourse. The idea of being authentic drives the North East people to delve into notices as against other established means of political communication in India.
