Abstract

This report describes a GLC assay for carbamazepine in plasma. The procedure involves the selective extraction of carbamazepine from phenobarbital and diphenylhydantoin. Carbamazepine is stabilized for quantitation in GLC through the formation of its trimethylsilyl derivative. The sensitivity of the method is sufficient to quantitate blood levels in patients receiving carbamazepine for seizure disorders.
