Abstract

This paper intends to do the analysis of the original manuscript of the Obras from Claudio Manuel da Costa published at 1768, which was examined by the Real Mesa Censoria, having huge cuts and corrections. The paper intends to discuss the changes proceeded by the poet or by the Mesa Censoria, created under Pombal to control and censure forthcoming books or at circulating in the Reign, functions by himself that was previously shared by the Desembargo do Paco, the Santo Oficio, and the Ordinario.
