Abstract

The glass-forming ability of binary alloys produced by ion beam mixing and by laser quenching is successfully analyzed using a map formed by thermochemical coordinates. These are the atomic size ratio and the heat of formation of the liquid alloy. The second coordinate is found to be more important than the first one for these alloys.
