Naval Engineers JournalVolume 83, Issue 5 p. 13-29 Glass Reinforced Plastic Developments For Application To Minesweeper Construction BENJAMIN W. LANKFORD JR., BENJAMIN W. LANKFORD JR. Benjamin W. Lankjord, Jr. is a Project Coordinator for Auxiliary Ships and Minesweepers in the Hull Division of the Naval Ship Engineering Center (NavSec), Hyattsville, Md. Prior to this position he was Supervisory Naval Architect responsible for the Hull Design of Auxiliary Ships and Minesweepers in the Hull Structural Branch at NavSec. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute tn 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. He is the author and co-author of several papers appearing in the Naval Engineers Journal. For the paper “The Structural Design of the ASR Catamaran Cross Structure,” he recevied the 1967 ASNE Authors Award and a life membership in the Society. He is also a member of the Association of Senior Engineers of the Naval Ship Systems Command.Search for more papers by this authorJOSEPH F. ANGERER, JOSEPH F. ANGERER Joseph F. Angerer is Vice President in charge of Engineering at Peterson Builders. Inc., Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and was the Project Manager for Peterson Builders, Inc. for the construction of the Glass Reinforced Plastic Minesweeper Test Section. He attended Ripon College and has been associated with the design and construction of wooden minesweepers for the past 18 years. He is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers; Society of Aeronautical Weight Engineers; Society of Non-Destructive Testing and American Institute of Design and Drafting.Search for more papers by this author BENJAMIN W.
