Abstract

This chapter investigates failure process in glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRP) using acoustic emission (AE) technique. The GFRP panels were tested in three-point bending in a series of loading–unloading cycles with the experimental platform consisting of WDW-100 universal testing machine and Physical Acoustic Corporation acoustic emission instrument. Parameter analysis and wavelet packet decomposition were used to process collected AE signals accomplished with damage process. Moreover, according to time reversal operator, AE source localization method was tested in GFRP panel with one AE sensor. The imaging results of impact localization have shown that it is able to detect impact point position in complex anisotropic GFRP structure.
