Abstract
Using anaerobic digestion, a California onion processor is converting juice from onion waste into methane-rich biogas that is then used on-site to power fuel cells. Its Advanced Energy Recovery System has enabled the company to eliminate a waste stream, lower its operating costs, and reduce its demand for energy from nonrenewable sources.
