Abstract

The basins off Canada’s eastern shore, often lost in the shadow of the staggering hydrocarbon potential of that nation’s Beaufort Sea region, could become the sites of major production by the end of this decade. That is the view of Dr. G. G. L. Henderson, president of Chevron Standard Ltd. and formerly the company’s chief geologist. He says production from the East Newfoundland Basin could rival that of the North Sea. Henderson is also optimistic that significant discoveries will be made off Labrador.
