Abstract

Nodular scabies is a clinical variant of the Sarcoptes scabiei infestation, occurring in 7% of scabies cases (1). The clinical presentation consists of red-brown pruritic nodules that predominantly affect the lower-trunk, scrotum and thighs and can persist for months after treatment (1). The pathophysiology of nodular scabies is thought to be a delayed type hypersensitivity reaction to antigens on the mite, eggs or scybala (1).
