Abstract

Superconducting films of HgBa 2Ca 2Cu 3O 8+δ (Hg-1223) were prepared by the sol-gel method on (100)-oriented Y 0.15Zr 0.85O 1.93 substrates. These films can carry a high critical current density (≈ 10 7 A/cm 2 at 10 K). Anisotropy of the irreversibility line and critical current with respect to the relative orientation of the film to the applied magnetic field is observed. These phenomena are highlighted by the huge mass anisotropy ( Λ ≈ 32000) in the Hg-1223 films.
