Abstract
Giant magnetoresistance (GMR) measurements of both nickel‐copper and cobalt‐copper multilayer systems are compared with each other and compared to theoretical predictions. The results demonstrate that the replacement of nickel by cobalt significantly enhances the GMR effect and that the magnitude of this effect is related to the copper, or nonmagnetic, layer thickness in a predictable fashion.
