Abstract

Background: Oncological resection of liver tumors continues to be the best alternative to increase survival and the disease-free period of patients. Thanks to liver regeneration, liver hypertrophy techniques are a great alternative in the surgical management of patients with high tumor burden. A few years ago, a surgical technique for liver hypertrophy called ALPPS (Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy) was described. In recent years, groups in Chile and Argentina have developed a variant of this which they have called MINIALPPS.
