From 1992 to early 1994, the ITU/B(CCIR) conducted an extensive investigation in ghost cancellation technology and defined an effective ghost cancellation reference (GCR) signal standard (System C) for 525-line and 625-line television systems to improve future television broadcasting quality for both terrestrial and cable environments.
