Abstract

According to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) statistics, the electricity generation sector accounted for approximately 31 percent of all US greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2013, and natural gas was the fuel for roughly 27 percent of electricity generated. Although GHG emissions from electric generation have decreased since 2007, the EPA realizes that the demand for electricity will continue to grow.
