Abstract

This article, influenced by the latest discussion, deals with violence in pedagogical interactions. In the first section, the basic structures of pedagogical interactions are outlined. Secondly, violence in pedagogical interactions is discussed exemplarily, including the violation of the pedagogical incest ban and the misuse of the pedagogical position to fulfill one’s own needs. In this section, the use of force is understood as the result of the pedagogues’ helplessness and as a reaction to violence directed towards them.In the third section possible preventative options are considered in relation to both offenders and victims and the handling of current incidents is discussed. The article critically notes the need of the existence of a safe space for discussion, because the open discussion will lead to the fundamental loss of confidence in pedagogical interactions and an increased demand for more rigor and control can be enforced.
