Abstract
To get started using this book to learn JavaFX 8, you will want to set up your development environment to compile and run many of its examples. In this chapter you will learn how to install the required software, such as the Java development kit (JDK) and the NetBeans integrated development environment (IDE). After installing the required software, you will begin by creating a traditional JavaFX "Hello World" example. Once you are comfortable with the development environment, we will walk through the JavaFX Hello World source code.
