Abstract
Colorectal surgeons are poised to accomplish excellence in patient care through both the clinical and academic realms. In the process, colon and rectal surgery offers significant opportunities to improve surgical education. When equipped with the tools, skills and resources, junior educators can succeed in disseminating knowledge to the next generation. Here we describe opportunities for residents and fellows to become involved with surgical education early and effectively. We seek to inform the reader of opportunities for excellence in surgical education in order to disseminate knowledge and skills to the next generation of trainees.
