Abstract

The adolescent health community must act quickly in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic to protect hard-won gains in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage. HPV vaccine protects against six cancers and could nearly eliminate cervical cancer, which disproportionately and unfairly burdens women of color. For more than a decade, U.S. primary care providers have worked tirelessly to establish the adolescent vaccine platform as part of routine care, but they have faced unique challenges with regard to HPV vaccination.
