Abstract

Science texts need to be precise. This precision usually requires detailed descriptions of objects, forces, organisms, and methodology as well as extensive explanations of complex concepts. It is no wonder then that science texts are often densely packed with complicated sentences that try to express many ideas. L2 readers struggle with complicated grammatical structures and tortuous sentences. This chapter provides guidelines for keeping sentence structures simple and readable while conveying complex information.
