Abstract

On the understanding that the responsibilities of companies extends to the whole of society, arise the studies on corporate social performance, with the objective of testing and operationalize the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). In the face of the changes in economic, financial and technological experienced by the Brazilian sugarcane industry, this work uses the measures of the internal public dimension of CSR Ethos indicators to evaluate the social performance of sugarcane industry companies located in the state of Goias, Brazil, regarding the adoption of policies and processes of CSR focused the internal public. A structured questionnaire was applied to all the plants in operation, getting answers from twelve companies. The results indicate that the internal public dimension is partially implanted in 75% of the companies and still under discussion in the remaining 25%. It is concluded that transformations experienced by the sugarcane industry were not sufficiently able to cause significant changes to the management of human resources, in terms of socially responsible attitude.
