Abstract
In the province of Quebec, studies and implementation works are usually carried out by the Canadian government under federal-provincial agreements. In recent years, federal activities focussed on St-Lawrence River water quality, flow regulation in the Montreal region and the Ottawa River basin, flood control in the Upper Richelieu, and flood risk mapping. The Inland Waters Directorate also established a network to monitor the presence of contaminants in the aquatic environment international and interprovincial watercourses.
