Abstract

The risk of IE after various procedures was investigated in a case-control study, derived from a nationwide survey of infective endocarditis (IE). The study confirmed that there is a risk, moderate, to develop IE after having at least one procedure especially surgery, canal treatment or scaling. More than any procedure, a cutaneous lesion or an infectious episode are major risk factors, which should be considered in priority to improve prophylaxis of IE.
