Abstract

Abstract KPI systems for evaluating and improving industrial processes are often used ineffectively in production companies, mostly due to arbitrarily selected KPIs and an overemphasis on financial aspects. Existing performance management approaches only describe basic elements and offer few practical recommendations. Implementation is usually only carried out by upper and middle management and neglects integration into production. This article presents a methodology that derives KPIs from corporate objectives in order to identify precise deviations and support data-driven analyses. The method is illustrated by evaluating the example of a process-accurate recording of throughput time.
