Abstract

This work was carried out to observe salts effects on the germination and polyamines effects on salt stress atenuation. Adenanthera pavonina seeds were scarified with H 2 SO 4 during 20 minutes and washed in distilled water. The experiments were conducted with different salt solutions (KCl, NaCl and CaCl 2 ) at several concentrations (0.0; -0.2; -0.4; -0.6; -0.8; -1.0; -1.2; -1.4; -1.5MPa). Later, solutions of putrescine (100ppm) and espermidine (100ppm) were done at same potentials. The tests were conducted at temperature of 30 o C. A significant reduction in the germinability and rate were observed when the salt concentrations were increased. KCl is more toxic than NaCl, which is more toxic than CaCl 2 . Polyamines did not atenuatted the salts stress.
