Abstract

This article attempts to review German history research in Korea during the last two years (2013~2014). Many researchers of German history in Korea tried to achieve ‘crossing boundaries research’. This was an attempt to overcome the structural problem of German history research in Korea and to seek a public and interdisciplinary dialogue. The conferences of Korean society for German history focusing on the First World War, development of welfare state, Korean-German relationships were an good example.BR This trend was also observed in the individual studies on German history in Korea. This collective and individual dialogue ist criticized because of the lack of scientific accuracy. But there were some researchers crossing boundaries who achieved an outstanding research results and showed what should be the German historical research in Korean. The scientific debate about research results of German history in Korea is to be still alive. The Dialog should take place first among researchers of German history in Korea.
