Abstract

This paper seeks to answer the question ‘how might Germain Grisez respond to the climate crisis?’ I argue that Grisez’s Catholic environmentalism—which has been overlooked by disciples and detractors alike—would repay much closer attention. Grisez does not address climate change in his published work, but employing his methodology enables reflection in ‘the light of faith and under the guidance of the Church’s teaching authority’1 in the spirit of his project whilst relevant insights may be gleaned from his treatment of other environmental issues.
